With an average snowfall of 290 centimeters (114 inches) per year, Syracuse is considered the snowiest city in the US. Luckily, the locals are well-equipped to handle the snow, with a fleet of plows and salt trucks ready to hit the streets at the first sign of flurries.
Syracuse offers some of the best winter sports in the country. Whether you’re into skiing, snowboarding, or snowshoeing, you’ll find something to get your adrenaline pumping. If you’re more of an indoor person, fear not – Syracuse has plenty of museums, galleries, and theatres to keep you entertained.
2. Flagstaff, Arizona

When you think about winter wonderlands, the dry Arizona desert might not be the first destination that comes to mind. However, Flagstaff is actually one of the snowiest places in the US, making it the perfect place for a frosty adventure.
Flagstaff’s annual snowfall reaches averages of up to 245 centimetres (100 inches). The snow-covered mountains and forests provide the perfect backdrop for skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, and more.
Flagstaff’s snowfall is unique because it’s caused by elevation rather than proximity to a large body of water. Its location at a height of 2,106 meters (7,000 feet) means it experiences colder temperatures and heavier snowfall than other cities in the region.

Nestled in Maryland’s Appalachian Mountains, Oakland is a charming small town with an average snowfall of around 323 centimeters (127 inches) per year. Oakland is home to the popular Wisp Resort, which offers skiing, snowboarding, and snow tubing.
