Colombia’s Rainbow River
I did get to gorgeous Cartagena where there are some fantastic boutique hotels, experience Colombia’s capital Bogota and trek into raw Colombia and its Rainbow River Cano Cristales which you can read about in my Colombia Itinerary.

But my heart belonged to the passionate, clever city of Medellin. There are so many fantastic things to do in Medellin. If you can, head to Medellin in August for the Feria de las Flores.

If you’re comfortable head out on a Pablo Escobar Tour to learn about Medellin’s most notorious son. Guatape is justifiably the number one day trip from Medellin.
Medellin is also crammed with great value restaurants – and super cute boutique hotels like the Art Hotel Medellin for sleeping.
