Why Orlando Tourism is So Well-Developed

Tourism became a significant aspect of Orlando’s economic development in 1965 when the Walt Disney Company announced its plans to build a resort there. Orlando is slightly less prone to major hurricanes, which made it favorable to Tampa and Miami.

It’s estimated that Orlando has more theme parks and tourist-centric attractions than any other city worldwide. Aside from Orlando, attractions like the Kennedy Space Center are cited as nearby attractions and attract a fair amount of visitors.

Florida sunsets and sunrises are also the stuff of legend. Remember, Florida has a west coast of its own – and the panhandle is always a gorgeous area to explore.

With that said, here are just 23 of the best Orlando attractions for adults.

23 Fantastic Things to do in Orlando for Adults

1. Alligator Airboat Tour

Florida is gator country, making Orlando one of those great opportunities for alligator spotting. What better way to do that than on a classic alligator airboat tour? The guided tour provides a thrill as you glide through the Everglades, looking for Florida’s best-known citizens.

Everglades airboat

Records suggest that the heaviest specimen ever caught in the state weighed just over 1000 lbs and was almost 14 feet long. That’s just a few inches shorter than the longest one. Hopefully, you won’t have to negotiate with one of those. Just remember to keep your hands and feet safely on board.

Fun fact: The Orlando area is one of the richest in terms of alligators. Alligators can be found in almost any body of water, so it’s not unusual to spot them in the inner city, lounging near a small lake, or directing traffic (just kidding).

As such, this is the oldest European-occupied settlement in the United States. It was officially founded in 1565.
