How to choose your hotel in Epernay France
Let’s start by covering some of the most frequently asked questions about staying in Epernay.
Is it better to stay in Epernay or Reims?
Reims is the larger of the two towns but both have excellent transport links to Paris and stations located in the center of town. If you want to add in some shopping and prefer more hustle and bustle and dining options then I would consider staying at a hotel in Reims. If you are after a more boutique, small-town stay then Epernay and its historic buildings are right for you. NB: Epernay has a large number of restaurants for a small town.
How far apart are Reims and Epernay?
Reims and Epernay are 14 miles or 23 kilometers apart. There are regular trains between the two towns and both have centrally located train stations.
Don’t miss my article on the best things to do in Reims.
Is Epernay walkable?
Yes! The city center is small and easy to navigate. It is also filled with bars and restaurants.
Can you walk to Champagne Houses in Epernay?
Yes. One of the biggest advantages of staying in Epernay is that Champagne Avene begins in the heart of the town. Champagne Avenue is home to a number of the largest champagne houses (Moet et Chandon, Perrier Jouet, Pol Roger and several more) and it is very walkable.
NB: The only downside of staying in Epernay or on champagne avenue is few hotels have an outdoor swimming pool or indoor pool.
