Where to Stay in Eugene Oregon: 7 Top Hotels You’ll Love

Eugene, Oregon, boasts a diverse selection of accommodations, catering to various preferences and budgets. Whether you’re visiting for a Ducks game, exploring the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest, or attending a conference, I’ve got 7 popular hotels I think you’re really going to like.

In this article, I will cover the top hotel options in downtown Eugene, close to the University of Oregon and near Autzen Stadium. I have included all the boutique hotel options I could find when I visited, plus a few others for different tastes and budgets.

Regarding where to stay in this college town, it’s not a huge city, so whilst I have covered it by area, feel free to choose the hotel that most appeals to you and then sort out your Eugene plans from there.

When to Book Your Eugene Hotel

Timing matters a lot in this town. Ducks football weekends (September through November) send hotel prices soaring and availability plummeting — book months in advance if you’re visiting for a game. Graduation week in June is similarly packed. For the best rates and availability, aim for late winter or early spring, when the city is quieter but the weather is starting to improve. 2026 also happens to mark the 5th Street Public Market’s 50th anniversary, with a Summer Series running every weekend from May 23 through September 6 — worth factoring in if you want your stay to line up with the celebrations.

Where to Stay in Eugene Oregon

Downtown Eugene Hotels

In my opinion, downtown Eugene is the best place to stay when visiting town. The reason for this is that it is the heart of the city with loads of restaurants, bars, shops and entertainment options all in easy walking distance. Personally, I like being able to walk to dinner from my hotel after a long day and staying downtown is the easiest way to achieve this goal.

Here are some of the best hotels in downtown Eugene:

1. The Gordon

🌟Rating: 9.8/10 I Class: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I 🏩View on Expedia.com

Immerse yourself in the artful ambiance at The Gordon Hotel, which boasts a central location in Eugene’s market district. You’re steps away from artisanal markets and local breweries. The Gordon is a genuine boutique hotel with a large stylish lobby and lots of art.

The lobby/reception area feels like a cool co-working space. It’s a great area to hang out and there are games if you’re in the mood.

There are four types of standard rooms and three suites. All have king size beds, italian linens, Oregon coffee and tea, coffee maker, complimentary wifi and work stations. The design aesthetic is Scandanavian smattered with some bright local art.

2. Campbell House Inn

🌟Rating: 8.8/10 I Class: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ I 🏩View on Booking.com

If you prefer a quaint and historic stay, Campbell House Inn extends a warm invite with its elegant Victorian charm. It’s situated near Skinner Bute Park (which has some great fairly short walking paths), ideal for those seeking a peaceful retreat. It has a fantastic location about a 10-minute walk from downtown and the 5th Street Public Market, but it feels more like you’re staying in a forest due to its location.

Built in 1892, the house was restored as a historic boutique hotel. There are still 21 rooms in total across two properties. The main house has 13 rooms, and the nearby Carriage House has 8 suites (this is where I stayed when I visited).

3. Inn at the Fifth

🌟Rating: 9.6/10 I Class: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I 🏩View on Expedia.com

For a luxurious experience, consider Inn at the Fifth — a boutique hotel offering top-notch service and amenities. It’s nestled in the heart of the 5th Street Public Market, giving you prime access to Eugene’s best shopping and dining.

The rooms at this luxury boutique hotel are plush – italian linen, cozy fireplaces, private balconies, plush bathrobes and much more. Choose between a classic room and a suite.

Inn at the Fifth and the Gordon Hotel are the most high end hotel options in Eugene. From visiting them the key difference between the two is that the Gordon is hipper and more contemporary whereas the Inn at the Fifth is more luxurious.

This is our 2nd stay at Inn on 5th; we returned because we enjoyed it so much the previous time. We liked our room better this time because with 2 queen beds there was more space, the bathroom had a better layout and we had a small balcony. The staff are exceptional and the location is ideal with great restaurants and shops within walking distance.

We booked a stay at The Graduate Hotel Eugene for a concert and couldn’t have been more pleased.

Liked · The Graduate offers top-notch amenities like a clean and modern design, helpful staff, and a convenient location. A real gem in the heart of Eugene!

Disliked · The only downside is the noise level from the street outside, but overall, it’s a great place to stay.

Since this article was first written, a couple of new options have also joined the downtown/market district scene: TownePlace Suites Eugene, a Marriott all-suites property that opened in October 2024 near Valley River Center (a good pick if you want a kitchen and more space, and it’s pet-friendly), and The Local Motel & Shops, an 11-room boutique motel renovated from the old Town Home Motel and located close to the 5th Street Public Market. Neither has quite the track record of the seven below yet, but both are worth a look if you want something newer.

University of Oregon Vicinity

For prospective students, visiting families, or alumni, finding a place near the University of Oregon can provide easy access to campus events. The area is also home to Hayward Field, Hendricks Park, the Museum of Natural and Cultural History, Matthew Knight Arena and Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art.

The University of Oregon area has a completely different vibe from downtown — think student-friendly cafes, running trails around Hendricks Park, and Pre’s Trail (the legendary running path named for Steve Prefontaine). If you’re a runner or Nike history buff, this is your zone — Phil Knight attended the University of Oregon, and this is essentially where Nike was born. It’s quieter at night than downtown but walkable to campus events and Matthew Knight Arena. Hayward Field can sometimes be open to visitors who want to go for a run, but do check, as this is only if there are no events taking place.

5. Timbers Inn

🌟Rating: 8.7/10 I Class: ⭐️⭐️ I 🏩View on Booking.com

Timbers Inn is kind of halfway between downtown Eugene and the University of Oregon but still walkable to the University. It is a funky, 2 star rustic inn and a great value option in Eugene.

If catching a thrilling sports game or concert is on your agenda, choosing a hotel near Autzen Stadium is essential. This is the home of the Ducks, the University of Oregon football team. It is well known for its fantastic atmosphere, particularly on game days. And if you’re after some nature, Alton Baker Park (which has some great biking trails) is in this area.

Since this guide was last refreshed, the 5th Street Public Market district has also picked up some fresh dining options worth knowing about if you’re staying downtown: Poppi’s Greek Taverna (Mediterranean fare in the Market’s Eateries & Bar), Kennedy’s Steakhouse on the corner of Pearl and 5th, Eugene Burger Company and Bar (recently expanded with a full beverage menu), and SHOUT Candy Co. for something sweet. All are an easy walk from The Gordon, Inn at the Fifth, or Graduate.
