The stunning Sossusvlei continues in this post. More dunes and one of the highlights of Namibia – experiencing sunrise. I also went 4WD riding across the dunes which was great fun – I would highly recommend some sand based adventure activities!
Wherever you travel in Africa you’ll see gorgeous children. Well they are mostly gorgeous. I did have some memorable ones in Uganda just scream at me to give them money! These ones were the much cuter variety in this gallery.
The landscapes are quite other-wordly. The grass often looks like carpet. Even the roads and the fences are photogenic! The colours are stunning and change throughout the day. As always sunrise and sunset are the best times for the best shots.
In the gallery you will see a building that looks like a fort or a tourist attraction. However it is not – this is a hotel I stayed in called Le Mirage. This is a wonderfully decadent boutique hotel with good proximity to Sossusvlei. Definitely one to check out. It has a spa and the rooms are huge and the thread count on the sheets is suitably high! It is also worth staying for dinner – well otherwise you would have to drive somewhere and then no wine so of course you want to stay! There is often music or different types of entertainment.
And finally if you are looking for something extra special get up early and take a hot air balloon over the dunes. I didn’t do this and so wish I had of done so! The photography would be stunning and I think this would be a fantastic way to get a sense of the scale of Sossusvlei.
